What Is Happening To Me Is Nothing …   2 comments

This whole surgery thing is throwing me for a loop. But then I have to put it in perspective and know that, all things considered, and on the pain scale of 0 – 10, my life pain over this should be 0, or maybe a 1.

On a weird note, if I declared myself homeless I could have the hospital bill written off just like that *snap*.

On a good note, if I just fill out all of the paperwork as a normal person, I should qualify for a write off.

National Healthcare! Socialized Medicine! No one should have to worry about these things, let alone people who are actually sick!

  1. Yeah, it’s been a theme for me with the wrist too – I hate to even imagine the stress I’d be under if I didn’t have insurance. The surgery I had yesterday might never have happened.

How’s your recovery going? Coming out of the anesthesia yesterday reminded me of how as we speak of surgery in blithe tones, we are glossing over the pain of the post-op healing process.

Glad to hear you’re probably not on the hook for the $20k.

BTW, unfortunately not going to be in town this week.

  2. Bah! Was looking forward to seeing you! But totally understandable.

Coming out of anesthesia is the worst part of the process. There is just no way around it – not even a positive attitude will help there! It all just has to get out of your system.

Hint: Vicodin is the cause of the headache, and anesthesia is the cause of the nausea. After surgery I took two Vicodin and immediately declared ‘I can do this without pain killers’, and I did.

A wrist is probably a different story though … I really didn’t have body pain. They just stuffed me with derma glue and called it a day. I only suffered from post traumatic stress ;)
